The sight of Mary Iheke completing the 3000("for training"),sandwiched between wins in more familiar territory at 200/400, epitomised the committed effort from our 9-stong team. Whilst we were marginally last of the 4 teams, our 73 points may be just enough to keep us out of the lower echelons.
Lana Whatley, having graduated from Loughborough Uni the day before, joined Mary and Rahannah Gillette-Gordon to retain their ever-present 2010 status for on-the-day TM,Debbie Vernon, who was also able to call on 4 athletes for their first SWL outings this campaign - Harriet Lester, sadly having to return early from a world trip,Debbie Raymond,Sasha Gordon & Odette McHenry.
Wins were scarce but, alongside Mary's double,U20 Pippa Wingate celebrated her ESAA selection for Surrey but taking the Hammer in 39.20,only a few centimetres short of her best, which will be a confidence booster for Birmingham. Sasha Gordon also reprised previous successes by winning the Triple Jump(10.00),and U17 Gaby Miles was very close to her 800 PB with 2.25.0 before adding a late speed session in the 4 x 400.
